Bursary Scheme 2026

Gold One New Shelf 1186 (Gedex) Operations is a gold mine situated in Brakpan in Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, approximately 30kms east of Johannesburg in the Gauteng Province.

THE FOLLOWING BURSARY OPPORTUNITIES EXIST AT GEDEX OPERATIONS: INTERNAL (15) – EXTERNAL (16)

• Mining Engineering
• Geological & Earth Sciences
• Mechanical Engineering
• Metallurgical Science
• Financial Studies
• Other (only for internal applicants)

REQUIREMENTS FOR EXTERNAL CANDIDATES:

• Must be registered with South African formal/recognised institution of higher learning.
• Proof of registration at the institution must be provided, including formal quotations for relevant study requirements (As per the above list).
• All Certificates must be SAPS Certified.
• Proof of income per household must be provided (this will be deciding factor).
• Proof of residence to be provided, as this bursary scheme is intended to primarily benefit prospective students from within Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s designated municipal wards.
• South African Citizenship.
• All documents must be Certified and uploaded in PDF format – no images (PNG or JPEG files) will be accepted for ANY documents uploaded

REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNAL CANDIDATES: (refers to an employee or their direct dependents)

• Internal Application Form available from T & A – this must be included
• Must be registered with South African formal/recognized institution of higher learning
• Proof of registration at the institution must be provided, including formal quotations for all relevant study requirements
• Employee must have at least 1 year and above (All Permanent employees of Gold One)
• All documents must be Certified and uploaded as a PDF – no images (PNG or JPEG files) will be accepted for ANY documents uploaded

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Successful candidates will sign the bursary contract with Gold One.
NO application will be received by any HR Officers/Gold One Employees in person
Applications without supporting documentation attached (relevant quotations, certified copies of ID and proof of address) will not be considered.
Please note that preference will be given to mine hosting communities’ applicants – only those in Springs, Benoni, Brakpan & Nigel (and all townships of these towns) will be considered

THE GOLD ONE BURSARY SCHEME COVERS THE FOLLOWING:

• Tuition Fees
• Exam Fees
• Book Fees/costs
• Accommodation for full-time students – only at university-administered accommodation, to be paid directly to the university

THE GOLD ONE BURSARY SCHEME DOES NOT COVER THE FOLLOWING:

• Monthly stipends
• Transportation costs
• Laptops and Data
• Meals
• Short Courses
