We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our finance team. In this key role, you will be responsible for overseeing core accounting operations, ensuring financial integrity, and supporting month‑end, year‑end, and compliance processes. Duties & Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
Manage the full month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Prepare and review journals, accruals, and prepayments.
Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating variances where required.
Produce monthly financial statements and management reports.
2. Accounts Management
Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes when necessary.
Review and approve payment runs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Monitor debtor and creditor balances and support credit management activities.
3. General Ledger & Financial Controls
Ensure the integrity of the general ledger through accurate postings and reconciliations.
Maintain strong internal controls and identify opportunities for improvements.
Support the implementation of accounting policies and best practices.
4. Compliance, Reporting & Audit Support
Prepare statutory reports and support annual external audits.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax submissions, and financial standards.
Assist in preparing VAT/TAX returns, reconciliations, and related documentation.
5. Budgeting & Forecasting Support
Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Provide variance analysis and financial insights to support decision-making.
6. Process Improvement & Systems
Improve accounting procedures, workflow efficiencies, and reporting accuracy.
Contribute to system enhancements and automation initiatives within finance.
7. Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with internal teams including operations, HR, and finance leadership.
Provide clear financial explanations to non-financial stakeholders.
Support management with ad‑hoc financial analysis and projects.
Desired Experience & Qualification
BCom Accounting degree with completed SAIPA or SAICA articles.
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a Senior Accountant or Financial Manager position.
At least 5 years’ hands-on experience in:Preparing and analysing monthly management accounts
Budget preparation and financial planning
Leading and managing a finance team
Package & Remuneration
R30 000 – R40 000
