Introduction
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Sales Consultant to promote and sell a range of premium, high-end and speciality food products to the hospitality industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities and growing existing accounts within restaurants, hotels, resorts, lodges and other food service establishments.
This is a consultative sales role that requires the ability to engage with chefs, restaurant managers and hospitality decision-makers, understand their unique requirements, and present innovative, high-quality product solutions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, strong relationship-building skills and a proven track record in sales within the hospitality, food service or speciality products sector.
The successful applicant will be self-motivated, customer-focused and driven to achieve sales targets while acting as a trusted advisor and ambassador for our premium product range.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within restaurants, hotels, resorts, lodges and the broader hospitality industry.
- Promote and sell a portfolio of premium, high-end and speciality food products to new and existing customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with chefs, restaurant managers, purchasing managers and key decision-makers.
- Conduct regular customer visits, product presentations and tastings to showcase products and identify opportunities for growth.
- Grow existing accounts by introducing new products and increasing product penetration.
- Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing within approved guidelines and close sales opportunities.
- Achieve and exceed monthly sales and gross profit targets.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities and customer requirements to identify new opportunities.
- Ensure excellent customer service and promptly resolve customer queries or concerns.
- Maintain accurate customer records, sales reports and pipeline activities using company systems.
- Represent the company professionally and act as a brand ambassador at all times.
Participate in promotional activities, trade shows and industry events when required.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
- A tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Food Service
- Management or a related field will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years’ sales experience, preferably within the hospitality, food service, FMCG or speciality food industry.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and growing customer accounts.
- Experience selling premium, high-end or speciality food products to restaurants, hotels, lodges, resorts or catering companies will be highly advantageous.
- Strong networking, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle essential.
- Ability to work independently, manage a sales territory effectively and travel regularly to customer sites.
- Passion for food, customer service and building long-term business relationships.
- Live in the Johannesburg area.
